you can enroll in a free college course. What course would you take and why? I am a liberal arts junkie, plain and simple. So it’s likely I could close my eyes, open up any course catalog, and rest my finger on a course that seems compelling. I love exploring the literary, artistic and scientific riches of the universe, pursuing the big questions that shape the meaning of our lives and applying these riches and questions to relevant life problems. This is what attracted me to mediation and conflict studies in the first place: a chance to learn across disciplines and then apply this knowledge to helping people increase their capacity to realize remarkable relationships and create compassionate communities. The course I’d pick today though, would have to be American Sign Language. The Deaf culture fascinates me. I would enjoy exploring questions of how language is structured and learning real skills to increase my effectiveness as a communicator.
